Tribes host Earth Day events in Skagit County

The Upper Skagit Tribe is hosting a tree-planting event starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17 at its Hansen Creek restoration site, off Helmick Road in Sedro-Woolley.

Sign up before the event at your local Starbucks and $10 per hour will be donated to Skagit Parks Foundation.

The Swinomish Tribe will hold its annual Earth Celebration beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 24. Volunteers are invited to participate in service projects including beach debris cleanup, net removal, yard work and invasive species removal on the tribe’s reservation near La Conner.

A traditional salmon lunch will be served to volunteers following the morning’s activities.
