The only thing missing at Saturday’s Salmon Homecoming Celebration in Roy was the salmon.
The 20 to 50 wild chum that made it up Muck Creek as far as Roy this year passed through town a couple of weeks ago – slightly earlier than organizers of the event expected.
“Salmon migrations are variable,” said Jeanette Dorner, salmon-recovery program manager for the Nisqually Indian Tribe. “They’re not the same every year. Sooner or later we’ll time this right.”
