Survey Reveals Depth Of Makah Community Support For Whaling

NEAH BAY (April 18, 2002) — In a needs assessment survey conducted for the International Whaling Commission (IWC), the Makah people revealed knowledge of whaling that has never been recorded in any other historical record.

The survey, conducted by anthropologist Ann Renker, asked participants what parts of the whale they would want from future hunts and the results were revealing Renker said.
