A group of five lucky youths earned their harvest tags for hunting after completing their first Hunter Education class, putting hours of classroom work into practice when they set out in the field on June 2. Hunting Director Dan Sandstrom, Sgt. Paul Herrera and Officer Loren Ottersen set up a variety of scenarios to test the students’ knowledge of proper gun handling techniques, how to safely scale obstacles and the proper identification and paperwork they need to carry with them at all times.
