From the Kitsap Sun:
Kitsap County commissioners honored 10 individuals and organizations for their environmental leadership during a ceremony Monday night.
With Earth Day coming up next week, the seven were recognized with Earth Day Awards in the following categories:
Excellence in Environmental Leadership — Suquamish Tribe: The tribe hosted the first waste-free canoe journey for 10,000 visitors. More than 2 tons of compostable waste, including food containers, was recycled along with other materials.
Note: The original stories on this award cited an incorrect amount of compostable waste. The correct figure is over nine tons. We’ve pointed to a post with the correct figure here.
